Sighting location: SO 057275. Sighting date: 21 November
Chiffchaffs at Brecon STW. One in a riverside willow, and soon afterwards two together in hawthorns bordering the Works. Late afternoon light very low, so was surprised to get a bad but recognisable photo with flash. Also plenty of blue and great tits, c10 long-tailed, one or two goldcrests and a treecreeper.

The yellow wing tagged Grey Heron lettered ‘BC’ that has been seen on the Usk at Brecon Prom on 15.10.07 and 8.11.07 has been confirmed as having been ringed on 9.4.02 at Frampton gravel pits, Gloucestershire and was a breeding bird at Old Berkeley Decoy heronry, Purton during both 2006 and 2007 seasons.

In addition to John Harper's list, a drake Pintail was with 80 Mallard, 6 Gadwall and 20 Wigeon off the carpark. Goes to show how the species list from the carpark can change within 15 minutes!!

Sighting location: Llangasty to hide and back. Sighting date: 19th November 2007
Among the many usual avian inhabitants a Bewicks Swan first seen at c.1430 hrs at Llangasty Spit was confirmed later by Mike Hogan with his powerful telescope and later still by Andrew King.
Otherwise: 22 Lapwing; 82 Mute Swan + 4 imms; 12 Goldeneye; 51 Cormorant (including a detailed count of a closely packed group on the far shore by Mike); 1 Great Black-backed Gull; and 8 Water Rail along the reeds at dusk on the way back to the car park.
Thousands of Starlings were flying SE across the lake to roost.

Brambling - 6 with 100 Chaffinch in birdfood crop. Higher up towards Penrhos - 120 Starling,2 Marsh Tit, 2 Bullfinch, 35 Fieldfare, 20 Redwing, few Siskin /Redpolls,Green Woodpecker.

10 Yellowhammers,5 male 5 female feeding on grass seed heads. 40 fieldfares feeding on hawthorn along with 200+ starlings 10-30 this morning for arround an hour
