Entry added by: David Gibson on Fri 1st October 21, 02:24pm Sighting location: Talybont Reservoir. Sighting date: 01/10/21
At noon today a probable Osprey was seen circling above Talybont reservoir dam and pumping station. A prolonged sighting of five to ten minutes but without my binoculars. The bird was flying quite low over the dam and then below me over the pump station as I stood on the dam. It was larger than a buzzard and had long wings compared to body size and quite a short tail. Brown on the top of the wings (perhaps darker wing tips?) and mottled brown and white on the underside of the wings, brown backed but very white underneath the body and with white on the upper part of the legs. The head was white with a black line through the eye. In flight it circled and on several occasions stopped to hover briefly with bent wings. It also made two brief dives with the wings folded. Eventually it flew back over the dam and travelled southward over the reservoir along the western shore.

Entry added by: Keith Noble on Thu 30th September 21, 08:43pm Sighting location: Llangorse Lake. Sighting date: 30/09/21
A juvenile Arctic Tern was dip-feeding among the white and yellow poles at the west end. About a hundred Swallows and House Martins flew low over the water in the rain, but hunted high during breaks, as did the tern. One Great White Egret and a Lapwing.

Entry added by: Andrew King on Tue 28th September 21, 08:14pm Sighting location: Llangorse Lake. Sighting date: 28/09/21
After the deluge.........GW Egret, 2 female Pintail, 8 Wigeon, 19 Tufted Duck, 24 Teal, 15 Gt Cr Grebe, 1 Gadwall, Hobby in the favoured Ash. 10-15 Swallows. A seemingly small and late juvenile Common Tern that fed to the surface like a Marsh Tern had me thinking, but obligingly it perched on the shore near Llangasty carpark to show off its extensive black hood, dark leading edge & orange bill-base. It appeared exhausted no doubt flying through heavy rain today so pleased to see it get up back out feeding.
