Two Bullfinches hopping amongst the tall weeds and willows

Flock of nine Red Grouse at the east end of the mountain flying from Brecon into Gwent.

Male and female Great Spotted woodpecker, male and female Black Cap feeding on peanut butter cake.

Peregrine killed a pigeon in field by house, circled calling and upsetting local rooks. Pulled in Buzzard, redkite and raven to investigate.

13 goosander, 2 moorhen and 8 mute swan (2 adults, 6 youngsters)

Few birds showing in the countryside - mainly corvids and WPigeons. Best was a Woodcock flushed from Maesclythan Wood above Cathedine, but only several Robins and single Wren and Dunnock in the gorse on the ridge.

A midday walk downstream from Llangynidr Bridge to Worcester Cottage produced 7 single and two pairs of Dipper. A single Heron, numbers of Wren and Robin but no Grey Wag.

Pair of Collared Doves seen mating in the village today
