Black Redstart - female. Initially thought it was a Dunnock, but then saw it's rusty tail which was spread out by the strong southerly winds. Had landed on top of porch and I was able to spot it no more than 2 feet away. Didn't really believe what I had seen until I saw Steve Jones' entry

c.1730 Large flocks of Starlings congregated by the church - - in the large trees, in the bushes and feding on the ground - - also in bushes to the SE. . . . Then a large mass 000s-strong rose and flew west along the south shore, presumably to the final roost - - - - followed by a thin tail of 00s flocks lasting many minutes; someone with a stopwatch and estimates of how many pass in 20 seconds (say) could assess the number fairly accurately.
