A Kingfisher at the Crannog, Llangorse was only my second county record so far this year. Some Swift passage today with birds at Felinfach (2), Bronllys (1) and Hay (1).

On its second fast low sweep across the pool, a young Goshawk passed within 20 yards of me. I saw no waders today but one young non-flying B-h'd Gull with an attendant adult.

Lesser black backed gulls - 6 heading south down the Wye this evening. 100 house martins, 50 swallows and a pair of swifts over the village at dusk. Our resident swifts declined in number steadily before finally disappearing yesterday.

13 Curlew, 48 Lapwing, 7 Cape Shelduck, 1+3 Moorhen, 1+1 BH Gull and 2 Coot.

There seem to be higher than usual numbers of swallows at home this year, up to 50-60 on Sunday evening including lots of juvs and we still have more broods to come. Also two juv green woodpeckers making a lot of noise before flying off into the Tarrell valley woods.

Yesterday evening during the Jazz a single Swift flew round Christ College, and a Dipper came up the Usk and high over the Town Bridge before doing a handbrake turn up the Honddhu.

1 Little Egret on dead Oak in field opposite Brecon sewage works and a second feeding downstream of the bypass bridge. Also 9 Goosander, 5 Grey Heron and singles of Dipper and Grey Wagtail.

20+ Pied Wagtails feeding on a muck heap.

A total of 17 Grey Wagtail were made up of two family parties of 6 at Brynich Lock and 9 at the water mill and a pair in between. Also 4 Dipper, 2 Goosander, 1 Spotted Flycatcher, 33+4 Mallard, 1 juv Moorhen, 1 Grey Heron and a Marsh Tit. 23 Common Blue and a couple of Small Copper added some extra colour.
