10 Yellowhammers,5 male 5 female feeding on grass seed heads. 40 fieldfares feeding on hawthorn along with 200+ starlings 10-30 this morning for arround an hour

First Blackcap(male)in garden feeding on apple tree along with bluetits,and blackbirds.

Unusally a Kingfisher near the petrol station. Also 256 Mallard, male Madarin, single Moorhen and 2 Mute Swan (inc. '7BSZ')

30 Chaffinch with 5+ Brambling, 8GT, 5BT, 1 Goldcrest, 70 WPigeon & 60 Fieldfare all under the roadside mature beeches at the bend near the MOD Conservation centre, Epynt. Also Red Kite and Peregrine over Beulah village.

On field behind sailing club 2 Dunlin and 4 Snipe shared a marshy pool with 5 Teal. 2 Stonechat nearby. From Llangasty - 43 Cormorant, 9 GC Grebe, 5 Goldeneye, 7 Wigeon, 14 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 2 Pochard and 208 Canada's.

BTO WeBS count this am. Best were 260 Canada Geese, 16 Gadwall, 255 Tufties, 43 Goldeneye, 680 Coot, 8 WRail (h), and a Yellow-legged Gull. The Coot and Tufted Duck counts are likely to be peak counts for 2007.

The Usk reservoir Great Grey Shrike was present on the Breconshire side today at 11.30 a.m.. Seen briefly at the top of some tall Larches and apparently being mobbed by a group of 5 Goldfinches. Also 11 Crossbill. The WeBS count produced only 4 Cormorant, 2 Tufted Duck and singles of brownhead Goldeneye, Redhead Goosander, female Mallard and female/imm. Wigeon. 14 Lapwings were nearby at SN 834 278. Yesterday evening 10,000+ roosting Starlings were being harassed by a Peregrine on Eppynt.

Single Woodcock flushed at 1550 hrs; only bird of any sort seen in one and a half hours late afternoon trudge round this foothill area below ALLT DDU!

Very quiet - 100 Starling, Single Red Kite, Raven and Fieldfare with a couple of Buzzard nearby.
