Good to see a steady flow of birders/photographers through the Llangasty bird-hide today, to enjoy the wealth of waterfowl. Best were male Pintail, male Scaup, 8+ Pochard, 22+ Goosander, 3 Gt Egrets, 3 L Egrets. Also Cettis Warbler, Water Rails - and at the Church carpark a single Chiffchaff foraging with 13 LTTits.

Merlin flew north low over reserve at 13.30. Also saw white jay again as on 30/12/18

3 Short-eared Owls hunting at 16:30.

Adjacent to Carn yr Arian, Ystradfellta a m. Hen Harrier quartering over clear fell area and a flock of 100+ Fieldfares and Redwings. In Cwm Llia a party of c15 Long Tailed Tits and a solitary m. Stonechat.

Drake Scaup, female Scoter, 40 Goldeneye, one Little and one Great Egrets, at least 110 Herring Gulls, 6 Common and 2 Yellow-legged.

A snow white jay with just a dark tail flew across road while driving this morning.

Circular walk found 17 spp. On M Troed, saw just 2 MPipit and a Jack Snipe flew up from the edge of the heathland burnt last June. Buzzards, Red Kites, Ravens. Best in Cwm Sorgwm were small parties of Gt, B & LTTits, a Green Woodpecker and 15 Fieldfare.

Quiet at Glasbury with just 1 Little Egret (another 6 together on the Radnor side), 9 Grey Heron together in a field, 2 Little Grebe, 4 Goosander, 1 Cormorant and 41 Mallard. 5+2 Mute Swan on the Radnor side were the only swans between here and Clyro. A t Llyswen where an adult Yellow-legged Gull and Herring Gull were with 115 BH Gull and 80+ LBB. The pools held 54 Canada's, 15 Mallard and 2 Mute Swan.
