A Great White Egret was on Dolymynach reservoir briefly late afternoon, before flying off in a southerly direction.

Kestrel, Red Kite, 40 Redwing, 20 Fieldfare, male Goldeneye, 2 Mallard, Gt Sp Woodpecker, several male Blackbirds - sums up all I could find in the wind and heavy drizzle!

08.15 - 09.45 before rain. Hide; 405 Tufted Duck with the prob same female Scaup that Keith photographed lacking a white bill-base. Separate Scaup group of 2 males again, and a fem with a fuller white bill-base possibly new in. Suggest Dolymynach trio are different. Also 2 GWE and 2 LEgrets, one male Pochard, 48+ Goldeneye, 8 Goosander, 32 Gadwall, 4 Shoveler. Cettis Warbler and 3 Water Rail heard.

3 Scaup (2 m and 1 f) present today on the Brecknock side of Dolymynach reservoir.

A short but productive walk upstream along the Usk from Llangynidr Bridge at 2pm. Kingfisher, 2 Dipper feeding together, Heron, 2 Grey Wag, 1 Pied Wag, red head Goosander, Mistle Thrush, Wren, Coal tit and Robin.

Weekend highlights: 200+ Brambling, 50 Chaffinch and 3 Marsh Tits in Buckland Wood. 5 minutes of incessant corvid noise in Pennorth announced a fly-through male Goshawk. Waterfowl numbers at Talybont Res'r continue to hold up well - 5m Pochard, 30 Tufteds, 58 Canada Geese and 1 Greylag, 86 Teal, 51 Wigeon, 2 Goosander and 4 Snipe on exposed mud. 2 Crossbills in Battle Hill Forest this pm.

A lone Bewick’s Swan on Twitter was photographed at Winforton today and the bill pattern matches the bird in Steve’s photos. First there for 5 years.

A Great White Egret on the roadside lake at Llyswen was a nice surprise as I drove north through Brecs. I know they're commonplace at Llangorse now, but I wasn't expecting this one.
