2 cuckoo's, 1 below Pen Gwyllt Meirch hill and 1 in the Grwyne Fawr cwm/valley. A heron in the Grwyne Fechan river. A pied flycatcher on a nest box at Blaenau and 2 spotted flycatchers nr. Sunny Bank. The first time I have seen flycatchers in the Black Mountains - positive.

Common Blue Damselflies in large numbers.

An immature Med Gull briefly joined 2 Common Terns. Four Curlews dropped into Rushy Field, where there were 2 Lapwings, and Mallards with young. Pair of Shovelers by the Point.

BBS visit this morning in less than ideal conditions but importantly Curlew heard south of Llyn Dwr. Spotted Flycatcher and Whinchat on BBS square but latter not includable. No Cuckoo recorded. Around the farm 7 House Martins busy with nest building and unusually a Sand Martin perched on wires with them.

Redshank at Llangasty briefly before moving on when a Lesser Black-backed Gull persistently tried to take a young Canada gosling.

There's no accusing Blackcap of being 'nesh' - a male was in song on territory this evening at 2060ft (= 630 m. asl).

A good walk over the moors to Mynydd Llangatwg cairn/summit ( 520m ) this afternoon generated some fine birds. Heard a whinchat singing, saw two distant Lapwings flying, five pairs of meadow pipits, four skylarks, male Kestrel, two red kites, two buzzards, swallow, a swift, six red dragonflies and a brimstone butterfly.
