Still three figures of Brambling @ Buckland this morning but being constantly disturbed by you know who 'WUFF WUFF'. Then the rains came in.......

One of the biggest finch flocks I have seen in the county. 1500+. Based on sample counts 'on the floor' - 1000 Brambling, 500 Chaffinch - then obligingly they flew over me for the overall flock count.

Today's WeBs count, 1 Green Sandpiper, 3 Jack Snipe, 30 Snipe and 10 Golden Plover. 8 Golden Plover were in the 'other' roost outside of the count area. Also about still, 2 Stonechat, 1 Meadow Pipit and 25 Fieldfare.

7 little egrets regularly together in oak tree on riverbank.

Mandarin Duck, 42+ entirely along the far side, the Brecknock shore. Also 3-4 Goldeneye and 1 Little Grebe.

Jack Snipe repeatedly flushed in boggy field near Beulah. First I've seen here. Single Snipe flushed regularly from same field over last couple of weeks. Also Brambling visiting ground feeding station in garden (Oct 29).

Walk this evening 1900 - 2000 : heard maybe 40 "seepings" overhead as Redwing flying up (or down) Usk Valley.

1 Crossbill over Bronllys, good numbers of Redwing Fieldfare and Starling around the village
