Oystercatcher heard calling four times as flying south over the village, 01:15. Earlier (12th) a highly probable Short eared Owl at dusk at a regular site, hunting at 2 km range and silhouetted against horizon, identified only by active flight pattern "jizz".

2 Hobby, an adult and juv, successfully hunting dragonflies along the western reed beds and perching in the trees toward the hide. Yesterday 2 Snipe were feeding in the open at Llangasty where there were single Wigeon and Teal. A Barn Owl was dead at the roadside at Llanhamlach.

Four Swifts and many low-flying Swallows, Sand and House Martins

A Green Sandpiper and 2-3 Common Sandpiper were on the mouth of the river Usk as it flows into the reservoir. 15 Cormorant 20 mallard 7 Tufted Duck were around the reservoir. 5 Willow Tits were in three locations in Glasfynydd forest (including one calling from the north bank in Carmarthenshire). 6 Sand Martin, 3+ Crossbills a Tree Pipit and a Sedge Warbler were also recorded (Sedge Warbler seems to be scarce in these areas now).

4 redstarts feeding on sunny side of hedgerow. Also wren and long tailed tit families in wood.

Drake Common Scoter in middle of the lake.

2 Oystercatcher around Llangasty. c.13 Lapwing flying back and forth over water-lily beds at west end of lake, seemingly trying to find somewhere to land away from all the human activity. c.170 Mute Swan scattered from one end of lake to other.

A juvenile Ruff on the Point and glimpse of a smaller wader, probably Dunlin.
