Yesterday one of the Curlews on the "Acorn" field on the Llangorse side of Llangorse Lake had a colour ring Black "18" read. This is part of a project being run in Pembrokeshire. The ringers have commented that by early March this bird is likely to be on passage, and may move through quickly, but any subsequent sightings of this bird will be gladly received. Please keep an eye out and report any subsequent sighting via this website if need be.

Butterflies. Received a lovely letter y'day from a gentleman in Llangynidr describing his first February record of male Orange-tip. One on the canal at Llangynidr on 27th Feb in last weeks exceptional weather. Looking back through the archive, it smashes the earliest date by a month! 26th March 2012 (KN - Gwndwn). In fact, the only March records were all in that last wk of March in 2012 which itself must have been an early spring. First wk of April is the reliable emergence for O-T locally. Well done, Philip.
