Entry added by: Gareth Rees on Thu 19th April 18, 08:11pm Sighting location: Upper Senni valley. Sighting date: 19/04/18
Male Whinchat, Cuckoo and Willow Warbler were obvious but getting my first Wheatear of the year took a lot of effort at a known breeding site. Singles of Swallow at several sites but no great numbers.

Entry added by: Mark Waldron on Thu 19th April 18, 05:03pm Sighting location: Llangorse Lake. Sighting date: 19/04/18
4 Black-tailed Godwit and 2 Ringed Plover at the SC Meadow where Reed and Sedge Warblers were singing. 3 Oystercatcher were flying around noisily. 7 Teal and 4 Gadwall. A Red-breasted Goose was at Llangasty which is presumably the same bird first seen at Raslas Pool 5/11/17 then at Caerphilly Castle moat 29/12/17 - 2/1/18, Aberdare Park 24/2/18 before moving to Parc Bryn Bach on 8/3/18. It has no rings just as photo's of the bird seen at the other sites show. It flushed from the flooded sailing club meadow but I got on to it late and couldn't work out what it was as it flew away from me. At Llangasty it was difficult to view as this diminutive goose was often hidden by the vegetation.

Entry added by: Mike Warburton on Tue 17th April 18, 07:12pm Sighting location: Buckland Hill and Woods. Sighting date: 17/04/18
A walk this evening in the gloomy drizzle produced quite a number of Summer migrants. Blackcap, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff and my first Cuckoo of the year were all in song and loads of House Martin and Swallow hawking insects from above the treetops.
