Two more Crossbill were seen near Cwmwysg chapel on the way back to Trecastle. Earlier in the day a Brambling was with a handful of Chaffinches along the top path at Priory Groves. Entry added by: Gareth Rees on Sat 17th November 18, 06:05pm Sighting location: Epynt. Sighting date: 17/11/18
Very breezy up on the hill at dusk, 20 Fieldfare, c25 Golden Plover and c1200 Starling in 6 groups moving to a roost site. Given the windy conditions I thought the chances of raptor/owl activity was low so a Short-eared Owl seen perched on the ground and then flushed from the side of the road was a great end. Managed to pick it up again in the gloom as it few into the red western sky.

As I arrived home tonight several Redwing calls were heard and two 10 min sample counts (18:20-18:30 and 19:20-19:30) gave counts of 8 and 7 calls indicating around 40 calls per hour. Will be interesting to see if this continues.
